New England Allergy, Asthma & Immunology PC opened in 1975 and offers treatments for respiratory conditions in addition to general medical care. This clinic offers a special home care program for asthma patients which has significantly reduced the need for asthma hospitalization and trips to the emergency room.
New England Allergy Asthma & Immunology PC is well staffed, with six physicians in residence. These physicians are allergist Dr. Thomas F. Jefferson, Kenneth Dovido, Carla Traniello, nutritionist Susan Butterworth, endocrinologist Naazin Lokhandwala and general practitioner Pushpa Gopel. Unfortunately, there was virtually no information available regarding the background and education of any staff members posted on the NEAAI website.
NEAAI provides a full and comprehensive range of medical treatments and health care services for all ages (internal medical care limited to children 12 years of age and up), specializing in the treatment and management of asthma. In addition, the facility has a licensed, intermediate-level on-site laboratory, enabling patients to get immediate results for most medical tests.
Other onsite services include x-rays, bone densitometry, tonometry, audiometry and vitamin therapy. Patients can contact the office to get information regarding daily pollen counts in the area, and the building is fully compliant with the ADA.
In addition to the main office in North Andover, NEAAI maintains peripheral branch offices in Salem and Derry (New Hampshire) and Newburyport.
The NEAII website offers some excellent audio presentations from Dr. Johnson on the topics of respiratory disease and a range of allergies ranging from pollen and mold to animal dander and food allergies. There is also a web page where Dr. Johnson has posted audio files on which he defines many of the more arcane terms allergy and respiratory patients are likely to encounter over the course of their treatment.
