Helm earned his M.D. from Louisiana State University Medical School and did his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and an internal medicine fellowship at the University of Tennessee. He is a board-certified cardiologist. Dr. Joseph M. Cefalu earned an M.D. from Louisiana State University Medical School and did his residency at the Earl K. Long Hospital and an internal medicine fellowship at Tulane Medical Center. He is also board-certified in cardiology. Dr. Kevin L. Kilpatrick earned his M.D. from the Louisiana State University Medical School and did a residency at Earl K. Long Hospital and an internship at the University of Texas, and also holds a board certification in cardiology. These physicians are merely the tip of the iceberg, as Baton Rouge Cardiology Center has ten other physicians on staff, with specialties ranging from radiology to angiography.
A patient’s first visit to Baton Rouge Cardiology Center starts with an examination performed by a skilled nurse, who takes vital signs and prepares patients for EKGs and X-rays as needed. A physician then examines the patient and performs a stress test and other diagnostic testing as needed by the individual condition.
