Dr. Harris Rotman grew up in Memphis Tennessee while Elvis Presley was first becoming known to the public, and had his mother not insisted on his taking piano lessons instead of guitar as was his wish, the field of dermatology would be poorer for it. When in medical school in the early 1960’s, he encountered a patient who nearly died from exposure to poison ivy. This began a lifelong fascination with dermatology. At the height of the Vietnam conflict, Dr. Rotman worked in Naval Hospitals in Norfolk and Portsmouth, Virginia, where he had the opportunity to study many rare skin conditions that service personnel had contracted in Southeast Asia. Since 1968, Dr. Rotman has been a Board Certified Dermatologist, and has had a private practice in Houston for nearly forty years. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Texan Dermatological Society and several other professional organizations.
