Despite the fact that he was on his way to a church service, he saw the patient immediately, then called her the following day to follow up. According to the author of the news article, it is not unusual for Dr. Cassara to open his office at odd hours for patients with urgent needs. It is what one might expect from someone who has known since childhood that he wanted to be a dentist – so much so that as a child, he presented family members with toothbrushes as Christmas gifts.

 
 Dr. Cassara graduated with honors from the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, one of the most prestigious institutions in the nation. He was acknowledged for his uncommon skill in dealing with child patients when he received an honorary award from the school’s Department of Pedodontics. He says, “I treat people the way I would like to be treated.” Part of his success in working with children is due to the fact that he takes the mystery out of it, encouraging children to ask questions, handle instruments, and see what is going on with a special camera. “Not knowing is what used to bother me about going to the dentist,” he recalls.
 
Dr. Cassara’s office accept most insurance plans, and his office will handle this billing for his patients. Generally, there is no waiting required for scheduled appointments. Dr. Cassara is conversant in Spanish for Hispanic patients who speak English as a second language. The office features the latest technology, and evening appointments are available.
