The Pain Control Network offers pain management services in the Louisville region of Kentucky. When conservative treatments for pain fail to provide the needed relief, the Pain Control Network provides ambulatory surgical services. Using the best and most modern diagnostic equipment and techniques, the Pain Control Network is devoted to providing specific and accurate diagnosis of pain and solving the underlying problems so that patients can return to their normal lives, pain-free.
The Pain Control Network understands that pain is one of the medical symptoms that is most difficult to diagnose using traditional means. Pain does not show on an X-ray or register on a blood test, but is one of the worst symptoms for a patient to have to endure. Both acute and chronic pain are treated by the Pain Control Network’s physicians and staff. The Pain Control Network maintains a licensed ambulatory surgical center, the only one in the state of Kentucky devoted to pain management surgery. These surgeries are minimally invasive that use percutaneous precision needles to place drugs or ablate nerve endings in targeted areas of the body. The Pain Control Network also deploys advanced techniques such as laser diskectomy, intrathecal infusion, and spinal cord stimulation.
Elmer Dunbar, MD is one of the Pain Control Network’s primary care physicians. He advocates a holistic approach to pain management, evaluating the entire patient and understanding their situation thoroughly in order to relieve their pain. Dr. Dunbar graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and did his post-graduate work in anesthesia. James Thompson, Ed.D. is a psychologist and therapist with more than twenty years of clinical experience, and follows a solutions-focused approach to diagnose and address psychological or behavioral issues that may be contributing to a patient’s experience of pain. Dr. Thompson attended the University of Louisville, earning a BS, M.Ed. and Ed.D. from that institution. Christopher Nelson, M.D. attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and is a pain management specialist with board certifications in anesthesiology and pain medicine.
The doctors and staff of the Pain Control Network believe that everyone has the right to receive pain treatment in the most professional, compassionate, and technologically advanced setting possible. They provide the most modern understanding and treatment of pain available in the medical marketplace today.
