bbhs.jpgFounded in 1948, Butler Behavioral Health Services is one of the leading private providers of outpatient mental health services in the state of Ohio. Using the most current, comprehensive treatments that include counseling, psychology, social work and when appropriate, medication, the professionals at BBHS have made it their mission to offer effective, compassionate care and rehabilitation for those suffering from substance abuse and emotional and psychological conditions.

Understanding the incredible pressures, strains and stresses of modern life in America on families and individuals, the staff at BBHS designs treatment and services based on the needs and circumstances of the individual patient. Following an initial diagnostic assessment, the patient receives individual counseling and if warranted, prescription drug treatment.

BBHS also offers group and family counseling, consultation to school districts and businesses, and parent guidance and support.

In addition to these services, BBHS provides home-based services including assistance for foster parents, vocational evaluations, placement and coaching, social and recreational services and consultation and crisis intervention. Their crisis intervention services include face-to-face as well as telephone contact. The BBHS Mobile Crisis Response Team works closely with local law enforcement agencies, offering on-site crisis intervention and evaluation in order to determine if hospitalization is needed. BBHS professionals will then offer post-crisis follow-up and counseling as necessary.

Crisis intervention services include Community Awareness training, suicide prevention, disaster response and school crises which also include psychiatric episodes, counseling in the event of a traumatic loss, and situations in which an individual may harm him/herself or others.

Each BBHS Counseling Center is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team which includes professionals licensed by the State of Ohio in the fields of Psychology, Psychiatry, Counseling, Social Work and Medicine; in addition, BBHS is fully licensed by the Ohio State Department of Mental Health.

Because cost is often a barrier to those seeking mental health services, BBHS accepts private insurance as well as Medicaid and Medicare clients. For those without insurance coverage, BBHS offers "open enrollment" three times a week at the it’s Hamilton branch and twice a week at the Middletown location.
