Ministry Service assisting Emergency Officials in Times of Need

In his letter to the church in Philippi, Paul the Apostle wrote, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." This is the firm belief of the men and women of the Emergency Ministry Service, an outgrowth of the Church on the Rock. Their mission is to be an expression of Psalm 46:1, in which the anonymous author wrote "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in time of trouble."
The mission of these Christian men and women of action is to be an instrument of that divine help for those in emergency need. Where there is fire, flood, earthquake or other of the Almighty God’s tests, the men and women of EMS are on the scene to render aid and comfort and as necessary.
EMS grew out of the ministry of Pastor Rick Yeomans, who founded the Church on the Rock in 2001. His story begins in 1976, when as an active and energetic youngster, Rick fled his self-destructive life of drugs, alcohol and revelry in Florida to become a professional surfer in Hawaii.
His journey was interrupted on a California beach when he encountered three young men who led him to Christ. Shortly thereafter, Rick heard the Lord’s call for him to enter the ministry.
Pastor Rick has been greatly influenced by his work as a chaplain for various law enforcement agencies, fire fighters and the U.S. military. It is these experiences that led him to for Emergency Ministry Service. In addition to preaching the Gospel, the mission of EMS is to respond to those who are victims of natural and man-made disasters, serve alongside men and women in emergency, law enforcement and national security, and train fellow Christians in the science of disaster response as well as the formation and mobilization of response teams.
Although EMS has been in existence little more than a year, teams have been on the scene at disasters throughout the country, including the recent floods along the Mississippi River.
Training in CPR, First Aid, Search and Rescue and related subjects are available through EMS.
EMS is a non-profit organization that is able to do its work only through the generosity of others. In addition, those interested in joining EMS as a paramedic, rescue worker or other emergency worker are encouraged to apply through the organization’s website.
